Tools & Activities

These are resources and activity ideas we trust and use for sensory, developmental, and learning support. This list will grow as our community grows.

For sensory needs:

Weighted blankets and lap pads help children who need deep pressure to regulate. Noise-canceling headphones are a game changer in loud environments. Fidget tools spinners, poppers, textured rings give hands something to do during focus time. Sunglasses for light sensitivity in public spaces (Harper's personal favorite).

For communication:

Visual schedules pictures or icons showing the daily routine reduce anxiety by helping children know what comes next. First-Then boards ("First we get dressed, then we go to the playground") are simple and powerful. AAC apps like Proloquo2Go or Cough Drop support children who are nonverbal or minimally verbal.

For learning and play:

Sensory bins with rice, sand, or water beads build fine motor skills and are calming. Bubble play supports breath control and focus. Cause-and-effect toys anything that lights up or makes a sound when pressed are great for early learners. Puzzles, sorting games, and stacking toys support cognitive development while honoring the way many autistic children naturally like to organize.

Trusted organizations:
